Starting Wage Range: $18.86/hr. - $24.07/hr.
Job Summary: Maintains safe and secure environment for client, employees, customers and visitors by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Surveys premises and personnel by patrolling property both physically and by vehicular means; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
- Responding to intrusion and fire alarms. Assesses alarm activation and notifies proper emergency response agencies.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Driving Requirements:
- CTGR Employees: Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe's vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.
- Portland Employees: This position may require driving.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within six months of employment.
- Must be able to obtain a DPSST certification within (6) six months of employment and maintain the certification and/or licensure requirements for a security officer in the State of Oregon, as determined by the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety and Standards Training (DPSST). (See Below for DPSST certification qualifications.)
- Meet all legal requirements to be able to work in the United States
- Minimum DPSST Requirements for Certification/Qualification as a Security Officer:
- Certified officers serve in positions of trust. Untrained and non-certified persons, or persons not of good moral character are not eligible for certification. See ORS 181.870 to 181.991 and OAR 259-060-0005 to 259-060-0600.
- As required by DPSST, any person applying for or working as a Security Officer in the state of Oregon:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have satisfactorily completed the training requirements for an armed or unarmed private security officer, as required by law
- Demonstrate minimum standards of moral fitness
- Not be required to register or be registered as a sex offender in any state
- Have no disqualifying criminal history or convictions
- Have no disqualifying history of mental illness
- Meet any other DPSST certification requirement
- DPSST applicants are subject to Federal Bureau of Investigation and Oregon State Police criminal history records checks to determine if the applicant has a disqualifying criminal history.
- Conviction for certain felony or misdemeanor crimes may disqualify a person from certification and licensure.
- Most positions require availability to work all shifts including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements below.
- Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively and the ability to meet the Department's physical standards.
- Must demonstrate good moral fitness and ethical standards
- Knowledge of Native American culture is required.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during Emergencies, or when the Tribal Emergency Operations Center is opened.
- Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
